Combining unconventional materials with freehand paper-cutting techniques, this work offers a personal interpretation of feathered immortals ascending to heaven, while scattering chrysanthemums in a celebratory way. The particular flower was widely used in Chinese funerals. The characters was originally carved on ancient tomb stones but modernized by the artist in this series of tapestries and paintings. It challenges the Eastern tradition of treating death and funerals as taboo subjects, expressing personal pursuit of a life concluded in a lively and worthy manner.
